#274 Scanning the Skies

A stargazer by nature, I spent an inordinate amount of time in my youth during the month of October scanning the skies for witches and flying monkeys. I was terrified, thanks to the Wizard of Oz movie we all dared each other to watch every year on TV.

These days, when the moon is full out in the countryside, I look for Eliot and E.T., the result of many years of therapy.

  1. I was also scared to death of the Wicked Witch but even more so of the flying monkeys when they first flew at me out of the woods. I was 4 or 5 years old watching on the big screen. Recently, I saw the movie on TV with commercial inreuptions and guess what? The initial monkey charge was cut so more commercial time could be aired. That took the wind out of my all time scariest movie. Hey, I was very young, in the dark, probably seening my first or second movie ever on what was to me a huge screen.
